Warrior Nomad Trail

I’m setting off on another big adventure to mark my first multi-day cycle event in 2022 and in Africa!

On the 22nd of October I’ll be joining 20 cyclist to complete the 550Km Warrior Nomad Trail, which traverses Uganda’s Karamojaland and Kenya’s West-Pokot and Turkana in 7 unique stages. It will take us from the southern grasslands, along the East African Rift, into the award-winning Kidepo Valley National Park.

  • 7 stages

  • 550 kms

  • 5,700m+ of elevation

  • 99% gravel

What’s unique about this particular challenge is that it will not only be my longest and steepest cycle pack trip but it’ll be the first connected to a larger cause.

Karamoja was a largely conflict stricken region, until the last four years, where  tensions between the Uganda People's Defence Force and nomadic warriors were extremely high and resulted in loss of life, development, and tourism.

Since this time, Kara-Tunga and other tourism operators have been working to restore tourism in the region, not only because its a stunning area (so i’m told!) but also to drive economic opportunity for indigenous populations in the area.

With this in mind, the Tour of Karamoja is working to raise funds for 20 vulnerable girls from host communities along the trail to offer them life changing vocational training at Matany Girls’ Vocational School (MAGVS). MAGVS is the only community based vocational school for girls in Karamoja that offers quality and relevant skills training programs to vulnerable girls and out of school youth.
